Island Fortress

Environmental storytelling horror game


In 2 weeks' time of our 8 weeks long project, I researched horror games and their favorite used features and mechanics. I grew a likening for the hiding system used in horror games and tried prototyping one of myself while giving my own twist to it.

I broke down the feature I wanted to prototype, created various versions of the hiding system, prototyped this, blocked out a quick playable scene, and implemented my hiding system within this. The system used in the example video is the one where the locker checks if the door is closed when the player is inside. The player, then, is able to hold their breath and hide.
